The expansion project includes doubling the production of direct reduced iron (DRI) to 5 million tons and increasing steelmaking capacity by 2 million to 4.4 million tons. This production will meet the demand of the local market (i.e. household electricity, construction, shipbuilding, and automotive), with approximately 1 million tons to be exported.
